Illinois Library Systems Choose IntraLearn
for State-Wide Training

State’s LibraryU Reloaded initiative supported by Gates Foundation grant

Northboro, MA, November 5, 2003 -- IntraLearn Software Corporation, the leading supplier of configurable e-Learning software applications to the mid-market, announced today that the Illinois Library Systems have chosen the IntraLearn XE to supply the e-Learning infrastructure to offer easily accessible and convenient continuing education for librarians in the state. The state-wide implementation is one of the few state-wide initiatives to make web based continuing education available to librarians, and eventually the public, 24 hours a day.
Developed by a number of Illinois Library Systems and funded by a grant from the Gates Foundation, LibraryU Reloaded was initiated in response to requests from Illinois Librarians for more web based training. It will also provide a convenient and more inexpensive avenue for librarians to enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

“Illinois Librarians have a strong commitment to learning, for their patrons and for themselves,” said Charm Ruhnke, Consultant Manager with the Lewis and Clark Library System in Illinois. “Web-based training is a fantastic method of quick-learning for librarians, staff, boards and patrons, allowing them to keep current in today's rapidly changing environment.” In choosing an e-Learning vendor, it was important that it could be easily customized to create a branded look and feel. It also needed a user friendly authoring tool so that librarians throughout the state with diverse skill levels could easily create quality training modules. “We had several requirements for the software that we chose, and IntraLearn matched them all,” said project coordinator, Lisa Barnhart.
